Our Genesis

In the beginning; manufacturing of high precession diamond shaping machine & tooling systems was the main business of Mr. J. J. Gothi (founder of sigma group of companies) in 1985. In pursuit of a business opportunity, Mr. Gothi shifted to Mumbai, the economic capital city of India. His father living in his native village also had to shift to Mumbai because of his illness and lack of good doctors near by the village. Mr. Gothi at that time found medical treatments were very costly to afford. The reason was

the higher cost to produce medical services. Being a kind hearted man, Mr. Gothi thought that if he could not afford the cost of expensive medical treatments, lots of people in India are poorer than him, how can they afford such treatments. And this thought ignited the fire in his belly to produce the medical equipments at the lowest rates without compromising with the quality. With such a noble objective and tremendous will power Mr. Gothis started ‘Convent Surgical’ with just 3 employs in 1988.

One by one he developed machines that give mass production & the best quality. In the beginning he had to face many difficulties such as money crises, technical disturbance, unavailability of parts of machines & many more. But nothing could be an obstacle in his way to success. He had developed his first threading machine that gives more than 1500 pcs. per 8 hrs. in 1993. This was the beginning of an era when ortho products were made affordable to people.  

Sigma - India (2005)

In 1997 Convent Surgical was sold and a new entity with more production capacity, developing theory and a new name ‘Sigma Surgical Pvt. Ltd.’ came into existence. In 2005 sigma expanded its product range and service area with making of a new corporate unit ‘Sigma Group of companies’ with the same motto:
